Main Model Matrix
Mazak's vertical machining center product line covers a complete spectrum from three-axis machining to five-axis linkage, meeting the machining needs of different specifications and industries.
The VCN series – C-type vertical machining centers designed for high productivity, including models such as the VCN-460 L and VCN-600 L. Utilizing Mazak's classic high-rigidity C-type structure, optimized through FEM finite element analysis, the design ensures high rigidity, high precision, and low vibration. All three axes are equipped with hollow lead screws, sharing an oil cooler with the spindle for effective thermal deformation control. Equipped with a SmoothEz or SmoothG CNC system, it can accommodate 30 to 40 tools, making it suitable for heavy-duty machining of medium to large workpieces in fields such as mold making and automotive parts.
The FJV series – high-precision gantry vertical machining centers – feature a high-rigidity gantry structure and a high-precision built-in electric spindle, designed for efficient machining of large workpieces. Taking the FJV-100/120 as an example, the worktable size is 3000mm × 2000mm, the maximum load capacity is 5000kg, the X-axis travel is 3200mm, and it comes standard with a BT50 tool holder and a 10000rpm spindle. Optional spindles include a 7000rpm high-torque spindle and an 18000rpm high-speed spindle, suitable for precision machining of large parts in industries such as aerospace, engineering machinery, and mold making.
The VARIAXIS i NEO series—a new generation of five-axis vertical machining centers—fully embodies Mazak's "DONE IN ONE" philosophy, enabling the machining of complex curved surfaces from raw materials to finished products in a single setup. Equipped with the SmoothAi CNC system, integrating AI and digital twin technology, its positioning accuracy is more than three times that of ISO standards. It can adapt to various machining needs from heavy-duty cutting to high-speed cutting, and is suitable for high-precision five-axis machining of large and heavy parts.
The VC-Ez series – economical three-axis vertical machining centers – offer high-performance precision machining capabilities at a competitive price. The VC-Ez 20 supports 3+2 or full five-axis machining, equipped with a 10,000rpm CAT-40 spindle and an automatic tool changer for 30 tools; the VC-Ez 660 IP boasts a machining range of 1400mm × 610mm × 570mm and a 12,000rpm BT40 spindle, providing flexible and efficient machining options for small and medium-sized enterprises.
Core technological advantages
SMOOTH AI CNC System. Mazak's new generation SmoothAi CNC system deeply integrates artificial intelligence and digital twin technology, with built-in self-learning capabilities to continuously optimize machine tool machining performance. The system integrates intelligent tools such as SMOOTHAi Spindle, SMOOTH CAM Ai, and MAZATROL TWINS, using AI algorithms to adaptively adjust machining parameters, significantly shortening machining cycles and improving the quality of finished surfaces.
High-rigidity structural design. The Mazak vertical machining center adopts a high-rigidity dense cast iron bed, and the structure is optimized by FEM finite element analysis to ensure stability and accuracy under high-speed motion. The three axes are equipped with high-rigidity roller guides and hollow lead screws as standard, which are continuously cooled by oil coolers to effectively control thermal deformation and ensure stable accuracy during long-term continuous machining.
AI-powered thermal shielding function. Based on multiple factors such as spindle speed, ambient temperature, and coolant condition, it intelligently calculates thermal deformation compensation through advanced algorithms, ensuring stable continuous machining accuracy and guaranteeing high-precision output even during long machining cycles.
MAZATROL features conversational programming. Machining programs can be directly imported from 3D CAD data, significantly reducing programming time and input errors. Combined with a 15-inch capacitive touchscreen, the interface is intuitive and easy to use, significantly lowering the learning curve.
